Placement Remarks
A uniform is provided but until it comes in please bring your own dark suit that meets the hotel's luxury grooming standards. Your uniform will be dry cleaned on site.
A complimentary meal per shift worked is offered.
You will start to accrue personal time off (PTO) as of day 1 of employment but you can not use this time until after a successful 90 days. You will accrue .0088462 per 1 hour worked.
The hotel will provide a maximum of 14 days of complimentary room and tax on property or at a nearby Hilton Hotel.

Depending on the location of your housing, a car may not be necessary while living in D.C. The D.C. metro access across the D.C. area is quite convenient making travel around the city fairly easy. It is recommended that you get metro passes as soon as you can once in D.C.
The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive. Visit WMATA and goDCgo to explore all of the sustainable transportation options!
Housing:
Washington DC Metro area, and the surrounding areas like Alexandria and Arlington, are expensive. A 1-bedroom apartment can start around $1,800+ per month, unfurnished. HRC places over 30 J1's in D.C. every year so there are plenty of other J1's to help you get settled in the area!
We recommend that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local to share the cost of the living. The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive. Please note, that without established credit, your first and last month’s rent may be required as a deposit. HRC recommends you arrive with at least $2,500 as startup capital and to help secure housing.
